The seven hills of Amman are an enchanting mixture of ancient and modern. Honking horns give way to the beautiful call to prayer which echoes from the stately minarets which grace the city.Amman is built on seven hills, or jabals, each of which more or less defines a neighborhood. Most jabals once had a traffic circle, and although most of these have now been replaced by traffic lights, Amman’s geography is often described in reference to the eight circles which form the spine of the city. First Circle is located near downtown, and the series extends westward through Eighth Circle.

The city of Amman is built on a series of hills affording its residents spectacular vistas at every turn.

Amman, the capital of Jordan, is a fascinating city of contrasts – a unique blend of old and new, ideally situated on a hilly area between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley. 

In the commercial heart of the city, ultra-modern buildings, hotels, smart restaurants, art galleries and boutiques rub shoulders comfortably with traditional coffee shops and tiny artisans, workshops. Everywhere there is evidence of the city,s much older past.

Due to the city,s modern-day prosperity and temperate climate, almost half of Jordan,s population is concentrated in the Amman area. The residential suburbs consist of mainly tree-lined streets and avenues flanked by elegant, almost uniformly white houses in accordance with a municipal law, which states that all buildings must be faced with local stone.

The downtown area is much older and more traditional with smaller businesses producing and selling everything from fabulous jewellery to everyday household items.

The people of Amman are multi-cultural, multi-denominational, well-educated and extremely hospitable. They welcome visitors and take pride in showing them around their fascinating and vibrant city.

Traditional dresses is one of the most beautiful and eye catching pieces in Jordan. Middle east is known for its style of traditional dresses where the manual embroidery is main craft used to make these dresses.

For many generations women dominated on the embroidery tasks, and each one of them put a part of her soul in the dress when she made it. For that you find each one gives the dress for her daughter, and when the next generation rise the mother will give the same dress to her daughter and so on. And each one of these women cherished and proud for having these dresses.

On the other hand as most of the traditional crafts, new generations start forgetting about it with time passing. For such a reason Majida and a group of ladies decide to establish their own shop to make these generations see the beauty of the traditional dress. They named the shop (Thob Jiditi) which mean "My Grandmother Dress'" reflecting the soul of the old ladies who start this craft.

These days if you try to convince a young or middle age lady to wear a traditional dress you will get a lot of hard time, and this is reasonable when you are looking for the fashion of these days. For that Thob Jiditi made agreements with more than one designer to make these dresses fit with the modern fashion styles. For that you will find dresses, jackets, outfits, and accessories which have the traditional look and on the same time fit with all of your occasions and places.

The new line of embroidery is fit for your work, home, family gathering, meetings, or a dinner with your future husband. And yet you will feel that no one else have something like it which will gives you the warm feeling of being special.
